History of development and gas industry features in Norway and the Kingdom of the Netherlands

Abstract

The article presents an overview and analysis of data from two leaders on natural gas fields
in Europe: Norway and the Netherlands. Particular attention is paid to the history of the development of
the Kingdom’s gas markets and its influence on the formation of this industry in the European Community
and in the world. The largest fields are Troll and Groningen, they are considered, as well as the little-known
small fields that are currently open. The development of oil and gas resources on the Norwegian Continental
Shelf has gone in different ways since the start of the first commercial production of hydrocarbons in 1971.
Some results on the development of the industry in countries have been summed up.
