The template for the design of the article is presented in the template
The “Economic series of the Bulletin of L.N. Gumilyov ENU” requires authors to adhere strictly to the American Psychological Association (APA), 7th edition, referencing style for all in-text citations and bibliographic entries(https://apastyle.apa.org/). Every source cited in the manuscript must be accurately reflected in the reference list, and each item in the reference list must correspond to an in-text citation. When a Digital Object Identifier (DOI) is available, it must be provided without exception.
In-text citations follow the author–year system. When the author's name is not incorporated into the sentence, the author's surname and year of publication appear in parentheses. For example, in the analysis of negotiation models, the citation may appear as (Barro, 2018). When the author’s name is integrated into the narrative, only the year is placed in parentheses, as illustrated in the statement by Virah-Sawmy and Sturmberg (2025). When several works are cited simultaneously, the sources are listed alphabetically and separated by semicolons. This approach is commonly applied when synthesizing extensive multi-year research results by various scholars, for example: (Khalilov, 2025; Li et al., 2017; Morgan & Felbermayr, 2025; Gorz et al., 2020).
The reference list is placed at the end of the manuscript and must fully comply with the structural and formatting requirements of APA 7. For journal articles, authors must provide the full list of authors, year of publication, article title, full journal title in italics, volume, issue, page range, and DOI. A correctly formatted example is as follows:
Arthur, K. K., Asongu, S. A., Darko, P., Ansah, M. O., Adom, S., & Hlortu, O. (2025). Financial crimes in Africa and economic growth: Implications for achieving sustainable development goals (SDGs). Journal of Economic Surveys, 39(3), 1212–1251. https://doi.org/10.1111/joes.12652
For monographs, the author’s surname and initials, year of publication, full title in italics, and publisher’s name must be indicated. For example:
Gorz, A. (2025). Critique of economic reason. Verso Books.
When referencing a chapter in an edited volume, the citation must include the chapter author, year, chapter title, information about the editors, title of the book, edition, page range, and DOI. An example is:
Rivera, A. C. (2020). Innovations in marketing strategy in the digital age. In G. T. Walker & D. A. Taylor (Eds.), Marketing in a globalized world (3rd ed., pp. 90–108). CityLine Press. https://doi.org/10.1235/bkch2022.00032
Electronic sources must include the date of publication, title of the material, name of the platform or website, and the date of access. For instance:
Kassymova, S. T. (2023, October 12). Fiscal sustainability challenges in emerging economies: Trends, risks, and policy responses. Economic Analytics Report. Retrieved January 15, 2024, from https://www.economic-analytics.org/reports/fiscal-sustainability-2023
The use of a unified APA 7 style enhances the scholarly transparency of publications, ensures accuracy and consistency in citation practices, and facilitates the verification of sources. These requirements fully align with international standards of academic integrity and the editorial policy of the “Economic series of the Bulletin of L.N. Gumilyov ENU.”
