The relationship between structural shifts in investment and output in Kazakhstan’s industry

Abstract

The study of the structure of the industry of Kazakhstan does not lose its relevance at the present
time. In the article, the authors analyze the structural changes in investment in fixed capital of the industry of
Kazakhstan as a whole and the output of industrial products, calculate the structure, as well as the coefficients
of absolute structural shifts for investment in fixed capital and output of industrial products as a whole for
2000-2019. The calculations were carried out by the method of formal logic based on official statistical data
of the Bureau of National Statistics of the Agency for Strategic Planning and Reforms of the Republic of
Kazakhstan. As a result of the calculations, it was revealed that during the studied period there were minor
structural changes in the industry of Kazakhstan. And there increased the raw material orientation of the
economy. A close linear relationship between the calculated indicators of absolute structural shifts for fixed
capital investment and industrial output in Kazakhstan has been observed since the 2nd period (2005-2009).)
The coefficient of determination was 0.7366 in 2019. The tightness of the connection was high. However, the
tightness of communication was weak when the authors included the period 2000-2004.
The analysis reflects changes in the structure of investment in fixed assets and output in the industry of
Kazakhstan and can be used for further research in this area.
