The article assesses the current state of the public-private partnership project management system in the Republic of Kazakhstan, in particular one of its components. In the paper, the authors analyzed the mechanism for evaluating socio-economic indicators of project effectiveness in the selection of potential investment projects planned for implementation through PPP. It was revealed that due to the modernization of the PPP mechanism through a change in the regulatory framework, there was an expansion of the set of alternatives to PPP projects, which did not remove, but on the contrary aggravated the problem of their selection. Based on this, the authors have developed an improved model for assessing the socio-economic efficiency of PPP projects by including blocks for assessing the comparative advantage of projects and involving experts in the field of PPP in planning and examination for the social and economic efficiency of these projects. This will increase the social and multiplicative effect of their implementation on society and related areas ensure a trend towards quality rather than quantity in the implementation of projects
