Priority directions of development of rural tourism of Akmola region

Abstract

Tourism as an integral part of the life of modern society is a global phenomenon of today.
One of the priorities in the field of tourism is rural tourism. In developed countries, this type of tourism has
become a highly profitable sector of the tourism industry. According to the WTO, rural tourism is one of
the five main strategic directions of tourism development in the world until 2020. The development of rural
tourism in many countries is considered to be the key to sustainable development of rural areas.
Thanks to the study of monuments, farms, handicraft workshops of the region, the possibility of
developing rural tourism of Akmola region was assessed and it is in which areas of the region there is a
great potential. On the basis of porter’s model the environment of functioning of the tourist sector of the
rural region in Akmola region was analyzed. Assessment of the socio-economic situation and the state of
tourism in Akmola region allowed to identify the main factors of its development. The main directions of
development of rural tourism in the region, which should be determined.
