Sustainable development of tourism destination (on the example of the Shchuchinsk-Borovoe resort area)

Abstract

Over the past decade, there have not been adequately considered the problems of sustainable
development of tourist destinations in the domestic economy in Kazakhstan. The UN concept with 17 sustainable
development goals became particularly relevant after the economies of many countries were negatively affected
by the pandemic and the instability of commodity prices due to the economic crisis. In this regard, noting the
need to study and implement the sustainable development of countries, the article focuses on the problems of
sustainable development in tourism. For this purpose, the Shchuchinsk - Borovoe resort area which is one of the
most attractive tourist destinations, was considered as an object of the study. The article focuses on the analysis
of the tourism industry of the Shchuchinsk-Borovoe zone as one of the most promising tourist destinations in
the Republic of Kazakhstan. There were considered the main factors of sustainable tourism development in the
region in the article. There was proposed a structural model for planning sustainable tourism development in
the region, based on the study results.
