The article focuses on the young generation, because at a young age value orientations are developed, in which the very essence of a person is revealed; a worldview is formed as a system of generalized ideas about the world as a whole, the surrounding reality, other people, oneself and readiness to be guided by it in activities; a conscious, generalized, summarized attitude to life is formed, allowing to come to the problem of the meaning of human life. The scientific article presents the results of the study to determine the value orientations, social attitudes and life goals of student youth. In the course of the study the peculiarities of youth were identified, the main factors that influence the formation and specificity of values and orientations of the young generation were determined, as well as the motives for choosing a profession, social attitudes and life goals of young people were identified. The study was conducted on the basis of a sociological survey, in which young people of Zhambyl and Mangistau regions participated. The survey was conducted by means of questionnaires, which were distributed among respondents in conditions of personal contact. According to the results of processing the respondents' questionnaires recommendations were made, which will allow to choose a social position independently, to develop value orientations, to form a conscious attitude to life.
